Fundraisers promote Team Spirit

Everyone naturally desires to belong. Successful High School fundraisers promote this sense of belonging to your community by acknowledging the contributions that everyone makes. The band, the cheerleaders, pep clubs, coaches, faculty and the fans all make contributions worth recognizing in a profitable fundraiser. Being inclusive in recognizing the successes the school and the team have, both on the court and field and off, draws people together, and reminds them of all they celebrate together. When you recognize this sense of community, of belonging then you promote school spirit and team spirit, and the results are successful fundraisers.

Mark the celebration and the competition with a theme. Make the theme more than just the athletic event in which the school or the team is competing. The theme can capture the goals of the entire year or just the season. As you select merchandise keep this theme in mind. Its purpose is to unite people: students, athletes, and parents to both the immediate and long-range goals for the team. To do this, identify what makes the team exceptional, what makes the season special and what is making the year different and unique.

Plan your fundraisers for the entire year or the entire season. Create a theme, something that builds a positive image for the team and includes the team colors and the team mascot if possible. Tied into the fundraiser should be an invitation to the community to join and support the team in their competitions.
